Every year the awards for ISLA, Information Security Leadership Awards, is give to a select few cybersecurity professionals. In addition to their actual award a gift that is a bit more personal and iconic to the location of the event. Being held in Austin, TX that year I though a wrapped Fender guitar would be an exciting and fun gift. Speaking with reps at Fender, I used a template they provided, created the design and the results were an overwhelming success – you can see in the picture how excited the winners were. Afterwards, social media was flooded with the winners posting pictures with their guitars.

This is an example of how thinking out of the box can create a great deal of earned media
